MindOverFour I am not sure how I found Scars of the Flesh, but one listen and I was hooked, because it reminds me of Arkansas DM-giants Vore. It was in my wishlist for a long time, then I found all of B.E.'s albums. They are all good, but I cannot recommend this album enough. People need to stop sleeping on these releases. Favorite track: Reduced to Rust.

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74

Desolator have the distinction of creating music that should appeal to any fan of the various death metal sub genres. You’re going to find both brutal (Adversarial Doctrine) and melodic (Methods of Self-deception) tracks; the album has an old school feel while not really falling into OSDM worship. The technical aspect is by no means central, but tech death fans should appreciate the riff craft on display (Creatures of Habit). I even got a Sepultura vibe from the drums on the last track.
