warchrist30 I'm assuming this is an extremely well done concept album based on the King Diamond feel to it and how seamlessly the songs seem to go together. Couldn't recommend more! Favorite track: The Last Stand.
MindOverFour
MindOverFour thumbnail
MindOverFour This could be the most progressive/epic of the Eckermann albums. Complex, ever changing songs, filled with moody symphonic aspects--sort of like Dimmu Borgir playing Abigail. I just do not know how every one of these releases were not on end of the year top 10 lists. I have almost bought them all several times over the past few years, and so glad I finally did. Favorite track: 47 Missing.

Andrew Lovell Pairing inspiration from The King with absolutely vicious riffing makes for an extremely enjoyable album. Well written with plenty of musical twists and turns to sink your teeth right into...

-- The Haunting at Helmbrook -- Dark clouds fill the sky, as the storm crept in that night Thunder was crashing, lightning was flashing Rain came pouring down, flooding this quiet town Winds they were swirling, howling and hissing The Asylum sat on a hill, Helmbrook was the name Hidden by the surrounding trees, 3909 Old River Lane Once you go there, you'll never be the same They will take you, they will break you 84 inmates, 84 tortured souls 13 guards, 9 nurses, 1 head doctor This twisted unhappy family, thriving upon the chaos Several cases of strange burns Inflicting the younger girls Bruises all over their bodies Claiming to have no memory Nine of them came forth The truth it seemed to contort Twelve others would not speak A pale color covering their cheeks They deemed it the haunting at Helmbrook Authorities did not take a look They called it the haunting at Helmbrook Authorities did not take a look

Victoria 06:59
-- Victoria -- "wake up my darling, you were screaming in your sleep It must've been a nightmare, from the terrible storm outside Go back to bed now, for there is nothing to fear I am just in the other room, I swear I'll keep an eye on you" But what they didn't know, the nightmares were real And that they should've known, they'll never save her They awoke to another scream, but Victoria was missing Her mother shook in a panic Her father stood there motionless The window was open, the rain was pouring in There could've been no intruder Her room was on the 3rd floor And on the next day, she was found wandering in the woods Not a memory of how she got there, mumbling incoherently "Oh you poor girl, what have you been through The signs are the same, as the 21 at Helmbrook" There was no sense in what happened that night Most of the town believed the girls they had lied The preacher gathered everyone to the church "We need to take Victoria to Helmbrook" Poking and prodding, sticking needles in her skin But she just lays there lifeless Testing, molesting every ounce of virgin skin But she just lays there motionless "This must be the devils work The marks all over their bodies, it's the touch of evil" They try to conjure a meaning Someone to put the blame on Demons seem the logical choice The devil needs his souls to destroy "Those poor innocent girls What did they do to deserve this? Their minds enveloped in madness Their bodies ridden with sadness Oh Victoria, tell us why..."
3.
47 Missing 05:37
-- 47 Missing -- Tragedy swept through this mountain town A rolling mist flows over the ground The morning of September 9th It began with a flash of light 47 Missing, mothers and daughters 47 Missing, feared led to the slaughter "Fear for your God has spoken Fear therefore he has chosen them Fear because of their blasphemy He has chosen them to die" All now gather for a town meeting Voices of skeptics form another meaning Demonic presence is what their feeling "Return to the church, for we must pray Hell is coming, the skies are turning grey" Incoherent chatter, fills the terrified crowd The sounds of confusion, can be heard so loud 47 gone to heaven? 47 left to die? "Judgement day is coming Don't test your faith in the darkness Cleanse your sins before it's too late Cast away the madness filling your soul"
4.
-- The Dead Eyes -- "Oh Victoria, you were so innocent they came and took you away What did they do to you? Your eyes were as blue as the sky Your smile would light up the day Now your just an empty soul What did they do to you?" They locked her away at Helmbrook Now institutionalized Burdened with a straight jacket To keep her from harming herself Her poor tormented soul, trapped in this agony On and on they questioned her "Tell us what happened that night girl Who was it that took you? Where have you been all this time? 14 days you were gone Where are the other 46 girls? You've got to tell us now If there is hope they can be saved" But she has deaf ears and dead eyes... She awoke the next morning, her eyes were glazed And with a whimper, she said... "They came with the lightning, they came with the thunder And then they pulled me under"
5.
-- Samuel Hayden -- They nicknamed her the demon girl Now becoming dead to this world Speaking tongues while in her sleep The darkness in her soul runs deep The town had turned on her A victim or a murderer? No solution to fantasize The madness seemed to mesmerize Samuel Hayden, minister of the church Right hand of God He has the influence to eliminate common sense Thief and a fraud They all rely on him, cleansing them of their sins Spreading the word of God As black as the winter ahead, as cold as the rotting dead His morals true to the heart, were evil from the start He spoke to the parents, of the 46 girls "She knows what happened She knows if they're dead or alive" Through the night he convinced them She had become a murderous soul "The devil had possessed her That girl is the spawn of evil" Breaking morals he was supposed to know Claiming visions of their tortured souls Behind the mask he hides the intent Raping Victoria, he wants to keep quiet The deed he had done so many times The seed he had sown just cast aside, now... Tear apart the veil of innocence Rip apart the mind and consciousness, now... Resulting in pain and anguish The tragedy that he would cherish, now...
6.
-- Flames of Hell -- September had brought the rains Storm clouds nearly everyday Flooding spread across the land An act of the devils hand Helmbrook hasn't been the same Some believe the staff's to blame 46 missing on their watch Their lives could very well be lost Tear apart this mystery Is there something we cannot see? Will the truth ever be found The voice of the lord resounds Caught within this tragedy, suffer in this apathy Send your prayers for the end The madness we can't comprehend Just a few hours 'til sunrise The cracking of thunder brings an end to the silence Outside the church the rain was pouring down Samuel Hayden was asleep inside Dreams and thoughts they will waste away His sins of life would be repaid today Lightning struck the church and lit it aflame Engulf the draperies and spread through the halls The flames of hell Turn the house of the lord into ash Beneath the blackening sky Just a glimpse in the devils eye It comes with the rising tide And the sins of a twisted mind This tragic and horrible story The smoke was seen in the morning There was nothing that they could do The fire in the church completely consumed Samuel Hayden was lost in the fire They would not know that he was a liar The remnants of this tragedy Behind the shadow of blasphemy
7.
The Cellar 04:40
-- The Cellar -- For an hour they had fought the flames But the church could not be saved They could hear the screams outside As the preacher was burned alive The smell of flesh burning in the air The horrid stench you can't compare 30 townsfolk standing there In the smoke filled courtyard square The real horror they had yet to find 46 bodies hidden inside In the cellar down below The secrets that nobody knows They were not warned of his twisted mind The vicious madness he kept inside The night that he had lured them there The staff of Helmbrook was unaware "Follow me girls, you need to confess your sins I will lead the way" Doctor Monroe was there Once he led them down to the basement "There's no reason to be scared He is here to help with your treatment" Victoria was the last to be raped The ungodly things that they did to her Her mouth and her wrists were taped They wouldn't want anyone to hear her Their story is full of this sadness Rise and fall, and the purity of madness Buried beneath the ash, was the hidden cellar door A gateway to another place Where innocence turns to horror As they ventured down the stairs The smell was unbearable The bodies of 46 girls, dismembered and rotting...
8.
-- Devil and the Apprentice -- Moonlight shines in the windows Glowing through the empty halls The echoing of distant footsteps Carries through the paper thin walls Doctor Monroe and the preacher Were meeting in his office that night The shallow cries from a young girl As she's led into candlelight It was a meeting with the devil, and his apprentice She was drugged with a sedative, helpless to prevent this It was a meeting with the devil, and his apprentice The torture was repetitive, their sick and twisted bliss They dragged her back to her room And it wasn't a moment too soon The nurse walked around the corner Just in time to not have seen her She spoke just to be sincere "What are you two old fools doing here?" But she thought it just a little weird Not enough to spark any fear But what she didn't know A side of them that they've never shown The doctor asked a word with her "What kind of wine would you prefer?" He dropped a little pill inside Just enough to make her die There couldn't be any witnesses To maintain their innocence The devil and the apprentice The doctor was the devil And the preacher his apprentice...
9.
-- Communion and a Cup of Wine -- "Don't dwell in the aftermath Just take a trip through the past You've got to tell us what happened that night And on the morning of September 9th" What did the preacher do? Who was it at Helmbrook he knew? How did he manage to bring you all to the church?" It sent a shiver right down her spine Her already pale skin turning even more white The words began to form in her mind With every sentence taking her back through time The night that they had lured them there Beneath the church to their evil lair Doctor Monroe was meeting with the staff As preacher Hayden led them out the back "Their hands are painted red They caused the blood that has been shed I cannot speak for the dead But straight to Hell the must be led" COmmunion and a cup of wine Spiked with a little something inside Just enough to fog the memory And enough to numb the senses Just enough to gain control And enough for your heart and soul Now led into darkness One by one led down the stairs Light turned into blackness One by one they were violated
10.
-- Suicidal Angel -- Victoria, she was always his favorite Long before she had come to Helmbrook She was the pearl of his sadistic side The glowing gem of his twisted pride Walking into the shadows Shaking hands with the devil Every Sunday in the house of God She did not know of his evil plot It was the madness within his soul The lusting and confronting to gain control The deception he hides behind To grant him access into their minds Now she sits in a padded room Touching the blade to her wrist Hoping death would be coming soon An escape from all of this She had found a blade in the grass Snuck it in hidden in her shoe She felt the tip pierce through her skin The warmth of blood trickled down her arm Slowly draining away all the torment All the memories she could not forget Bleeding out all the horrors within And all the horrible things that they did They called her an angel, but she became suicidal Her heartbeat faded fast Within the hour her soul had passed Her cold body dead on the floor Memories won't haunt anymore Suicidal angel...
11.
-- The Last Stand -- The doctor sat alone in silence He knew they would be coming for him The result was inevitable That girl wouldn't keep her mouth shut As the cars pulled up to Helmbrook He took a glance out of the window And the smoke rolling off his lips As he put out his fine cigar He grabbed a pistol from in the drawer Just as the nurse knocked on the door "Miss, won't you please come inside I've got nothing left to hide" He put a bullet through her chest Now making his way through the halls One bullet for each inmate, one final fatal dose One serial killer, one dead and withered rose One bullet for each inmate, one final fatal dose One serial killer, his evil deeds exposed They heard the shots from outside the door It sent a panic straight to the core As their bloody bodies hit the floor They wouldn't feel the pain anymore The police broke in through the back door Rushing up the stairs from the first floor A painless ending they were praying for But the shots rang out more and more This was his last stand, the doctors end... And now the stand-off begins There was no way he could win Bullets fly as he ducked behind a door All around him was a scene full of gore Two shots hit him in the back Piercing through his flesh His bones severed with a crack Putting this story to rest

Aftermath 09:39
-- Aftermath -- Two long months After the massacre at Helmbrook Storms seem to subside In the wake of all the lives they've took Inspector Bryce arrives To report his final say of the death toll Aftermath of ash, bodies and blood Ignorance from the townsfolk The blame of God, blame of the Devil The blame of an ignorant town, so sinister They blame the veil of the divine, doctor kept them blind Fed them wine to numb their minds, so sinister 47 Girls raped and left to die Their final rest within the unholy cellar Victoria the saddest of loss If only she spoke sooner, we could have saved her One wretched preacher, and one twisted doctor An oblivious town, a storm that would not weather In the night, drunk off wine Took their souls from innocence and burned them alive The saving grace, God and medicine Took them to a hell that no one should ever attend The world must know this evil The tragic end of this story, too long I'm imploring A society that's ignoring the truth Too many live left shattered A town left blood splattered Yet none of this ever mattered anymore Samuel Hayden and Doctor Monroe Belong in a Hell so far below Tortured and left long to be denied How much more evidence should be supplied All, beneath the embers All, the bodies so disfigured, never remembered On the day of September 9th Forever stained with this heinous crime Helmbrook condemned to never be occupied All because of the ignorance and the aftermath Forever stained, ignorance and the aftermath Blood drenched, ignorance and the aftermath Never the same, never the same...
